Transportation within Bangkok is accessible, efficient and inexpensive.

Taxis in Bangkok are fixed with a meter and have a sign "TAXI-METER" on the roof. The rates does not included a tollway or express way fare so the passengers have to pay for them. Unfortunately, the very cheap, frequent and clean public bus system must be used with consider because of the traffic jam. Selective use in the line that lack of train service is reasonable. Traveling by boat is an efficient, inexpensive and fairly tranquil way to get around and provides a remarkable window to local life as well as good views of Bangkok. There are many tpyes of boats plying the Chao Phraya River. Some criss-cross between piers on opposite banks while the Chao Phraya Express boats travel upstream and downstream within the metropolis. Since August 2008, all locals and travellers can explore old Bangkok district(Rattanakosin Island) by bicycle with Bangkok Green Bike campaign. This is a pilot project of Green Bangkok Projects and it's free of charge service. The bike route circuit is about 18 kilometres at the Rattanakosin island, passes many attractive places in Bangkok. Eight bike stations are on along the route. The private bike tours in Bangkok are available and it's safe enough to join them.[More]
